Current Vacancies
Experienced Employment Solicitor
We are looking for an experienced employment solicitor, acting mainly, if not exclusively, for employers. Bramhalls is a specialist firm made up of lawyers from ex City firms whose clients are in the public, private and education sectors and who demand and expect the provision of high quality commercial legal advice from immediately accessible lawyers who know their business.
The preferred candidate will be technically skilled in all aspects of employment law and have gained experience working in a recognised employment law practice, or in-house with significant Respondent experience. Bramhalls works closely with HR managers and HR directors and deals with the full gamut of employment law issues, from disciplinary and grievance procedures to trade union disputes, reorganisations and large scale redundancies, in addition to complex TUPE and discrimination matters and Employment Tribunal litigation. Whilst we work together and support each other as a team, the preferred candidate will be confident and competent to deal with most of those issues and be the primary adviser to various clients.
We are, ideally, looking for somebody with a track record of responsibility for management and business acumen, as well as being an expert in employment law! This probably means that we are looking for somebody with at least 10 years’ specialist experience and currently working at senior associate or partner level.
The preferred candidate must be self-confident and amiable. Getting, developing, maintaining and building upon HR client relationships will be essential. The candidate will be expected to communicate pragmatic, cost effective and commercially sensible solutions to their client’s legal problems.
Bramhalls’ solicitors do not set any financial targets. That is deliberate. At Bramhalls, a solicitor’s performance is not measured by the number of hours they bill, but on the speed and quality of the advice that they give to their clients. This thinking and approach is fundamental to Bramhalls. Hard work is still required, but it is to achieve the clients’ objectives, rather than generate fees.
The preferred candidate will be given support, training, advice and guidance as necessary. The office environment is relaxed and informal. The office is open plan, allowing for easy exchange of thoughts and ideas. He or she will also be expected to contribute to the firm’s various business development activities, but service and care for existing clients is paramount.
The appointment is to facilitate managed growth of the practice and a following is, therefore, desirable.
Job Type: Full Time preferred
Required Experience: See Above.
Salary: As appropriate for successful candidate.
